Blue Desert Guide Co. offers a unique experience for visitors to New Mexico and the Four Corners region, as well as a unique perspective into the history, culture, and landscapes that define the area. We believe that this area is unlike any other, although the reasons why are not something you can always explain. New Mexico truly is the Land of Enchantment, and northwestern New Mexico and the Four Corners region exemplify this notion with a sense of mystery and mystique that has enveloped travelers for centuries.
The idea to form our guide company was created out of a desire to share this mystique and enchantment with those not familiar with the region or what it has to offer. After residing in the area for years, we are intimately familiar with the canyons, deserts, mountains, and lakes that create such an awesome backdrop to a rich cultural, historical and artistic scene. In order to truly experience this region and gain an understanding of all it offers, you need a “local” to take you around. Our insider knowledge of all the best trails, most spectacular vistas, hidden Anasazi ruins, and authentic cultural events, allows visitors to truly travel off the beaten path and into a world largely unchanged by history.
Through friends and local contacts, our guide company offers visitors a very authentic experience. Our base of operations is out of northwestern New Mexico, allowing travelers to relax and stay on either the Zuni Reservation or in the nearby town of Ramah during their trip, an experience otherwise impossible. Additionally, our guides have been given permission to take travelers into areas of the Zuni and Navajo Reservations that are typically restricted to outsiders since all lands have familial rights attached. Many of these otherwise prohibited areas offer some of the most unique and rustic landscape, as well as ancient ruins and other pieces of history scattered throughout. Hiking through these lands will give visitors insight as to how the great artists and novelists previously to the region were inspired by its rugged yet simple beauty.
